Great British Spring Clean

20 March-13 April

The Town Council will be supporting the initiative again by promoting and encouraging community litter picks, providing the loan of equipment and arranging collection of waste.  If you are part of a group who’d like to hold a community litter picking event in Sandy contact admin@sandytowncouncil.gov.uk for more information.

Mayor’s Awards for Citizenship – get your nominations in

The nomination process for the Mayor’s Awards has started, the closing date for nominations is the 13th April.  The Mayor’s Awards recognise some of the wonderful individuals and groups who have served our community. Award categories are Citizens Award, Young Persons Award and Community Groups Award.  If you would like to nominate someone please see details in the press and on our website and Facebook page.

Friends of Sandy Green Wheel – litter pick

The Friends of Sandy Green Wheel play an important part in helping keep areas of the Sandy Green Wheel looking good.  The group will be holding its first litter picking event along sections of the Green Wheel route on the 4th and 5th April from 10am.  If you’d like to join in and help look after our local greenspaces, please contact admin@sandytowncouncil.gov.uk.

Forthcoming Events

The Mayor’s Civic Service will be held at St Swithun’s Church on Sunday 22nd March 2020.  CANCELLED

Eat Feast will be in the town car park on Friday 10th April 2020.
Harris’s Fun Fair at Sunderland Road from the 16th April to the 19th April.
The Annual Town Meeting for electors of Sandy will be on Monday 27th April 2020.
A VE Day street party to be held in the Market Square on 8th May 2020, with live music, entertainment and food. The event will run from 3pm to 9pm.
The Green Wheel Spring Walk will be held on Sunday 24th May, starting from the Community Stand in the Market Square soon after 10am.
There will be a Council stall at Sandy Carnival on 6th June.

Replacement of broken Fallowfield play equipment

The new Flymobile has now been installed in the park at Fallowfield.  This equipment replaces a previous item which was beyond economic repair.  The Council obtained funding for the equipment from Central Bedfordshire Council’s Section 106 funding.

All meetings commence at 7.30pm except Development Scrutiny Committee (Planning) which starts at 6.45pm in the Council Chamber, 10 Cambridge Road, Sandy, SG19 1JE (unless otherwise stated on the Agenda)
