Driving force in current crisis

Former Bedford College Business HNC student Tony Spooner has been putting his training to good use in the current challenging times.

The award-winning 31-year-old who lives in Rushden, has his business, AJS Express Parcels Limited, based in Wellingborough from where he is supplying the NHS and food industries during the current crisis.

“We have had to adapt and whilst we have lost some business in the event industry, we are busy with large equipment deliveries to hospitals and packing materials for the food industry,” said Tony who runs the company with his wife Lauren.

Earlier this year Tony revisited Bedford College at the request of his former lecturer Nicky Lay-Flurrie to talk to HNC Business Course students about his road to success. Tony was a part-time student whilst working prior to setting up on his own.

He has already won the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the SME Northamptonshire Business Awards in late 2019 and is now continuing to adapt to the fast changing commercial environment.

“We are not as fully booked as we were prior to the outbreak, but I have been using that time to revitialize our branding and restructure the business. No time is being wasted,” added Tony.
