Over the Easter bank holiday weekend, Bedford Borough Council’s Community Hub was busy providing support to vulnerable residents across the Borough.
This saw the delivery of the 1000th food parcel to those in need.
The Community Hub supports residents who are in self-isolation with no family or friends to help by preparing and delivering basic food parcels, collecting and delivering essential prescriptions and offering a friendly link with the outside world.
Mayor Dave Hodgson said: “The Hub has been providing vital support for people from food and prescriptions, to a friendly chat to help people in isolation feel a little less lonely.
“I am very proud that we have been able to get our Hub up and running quickly, and have already delivered over 1000 food parcels to those in need.
“Thank you to the staff and our amazing volunteers who are doing this fantastic work.”
