A new scouts dormitory block in Bromham can now be completely fitted out thanks to a donation of £25,000 from the Connolly Foundation.

This has enabled the target of £50,000 to be reached despite the problems caused by the coronavirus lockdown.

The block, The Leslie Sell Activity Centre, in Molivers Lane, Bromham, can and will be used not only by local Scouts but is open to Scouts from around the country, and, indeed, across the world.

The building is in the style of a log cabin but with all the latest technology and can house up to 40 scouts and eight adults.

It is surrounded by open grassland and is approached through an ancient woodland.

David Heard, the Activity Centre Chairman and Scott Roberts, Bedfordshire County Scouts Chairman said: “This unbelievably generous donation of £25,000 will allow Bedfordshire Scouts to complete the internal fit out of our new dormitory block at the LSAC campsite in Bromham.

“Without the help of the Connolly Foundation we would not be able to get this new facility operational and in use by scouts of all ages from Bedfordshire and all over the UK.

“Thank you for your help and support to allow us to continue to offer young people life enriching experiences which is even more important in these difficult times.”
