The ever-popular Esquires music venue in Bedford’s town centre, went public at the beginning of the restrictions, to raise money to support it through the ‘Covid 19 lock-down’.
The appeal closed on Wednesday, June 3.
The generosity of 1427 supporters raised £50,429 against an initial target of £20,000.
Gareth Barber, owner of Esquires, was overwhelmed by this show of support from the music loving public, saying: “It’s been an amazing effort from everyone and this keeps the venue afloat until we can reopen – a huge thank you to all those people who gave to support live music, I will be ever grateful.”
