but keep following safety rules

A live video meeting of Bedford Borough Council and partners on Thursday, July 2, 2020, agreed there would be NO immediate additional lockdown in the town.

An initial report of the Local Outbreak Engagement “deep dive” investigation will be made on Monday July 6 and a further one on July 14, to show where exactly high level of Covid infections originate in the Borough.

The news will be a relief to town centre businesses who have put in weeks of planning towards re-opening on Saturday July 4th, as agreed by the Government.

Hairdressers, restaurants and some bars and clubs are opening on that day are looking forward to welcoming back customers safely and sensibly at the weekend.

Among them are three who have taken advantage of a special biomisting offer arranged by the Bedford Business Improvement District (BID) which represents the interests of 100s of town centre outlets and venues.

Bio ready for business

A deal announced today by Love Bedford on behalf of those in the BedfordBID zone signals how seriously safety is being taken by town centre businesses.

The professional BioREADY misting means premises can be made safe from viruses and ensure customers and clients feel happy to visit.

The system was being demonstrated at La Fontana Restaurant and Rob’s Barbers off Ram Yard, and Jagged Edge Barbers on the High Street on Thursday July 2, to signal the re-opening of similar sector businesses in Bedford on July 4 and beyond.

“We know how hard our businesses, large and small, are working to ensure customers feel protected when visiting their premises. And we have broadcast that message loud and clear across Love Bedford platforms.

“We think the BioREADY deal reinforces the message to those who want, or need, to come into town, that we are Open for Business, safely.”
