A man turned up in the street where his ex was waiting at a school and headbutted and punched her.

Dan Benjamin, who had taken crack cocaine and was carrying a can of beer, called her a string of vile names, convinced that she had formed a new relationship with someone else.

He made off after the attack, but a court heard he then bombarded the woman with abusive and threatening text messages and voice mails, which left her terrified.

At Luton crown court on Friday, July 24, Benjamin appeared in custody and pleaded guilty to the offences of putting a person in fear of violence through harassment and assault by beating.

The court was told his victim has had to move home to get away from Benjamin, whose behaviour had left her emotionally and mentally scarred.

Judge Mark Bishop was told 34-year-old Benjamin of Olympic Close, Luton had a history of inflicting domestic violence and harassment on previous partners.

He was jailed for four years and told he will have to serve half before he can be released on licence.
