Bedfordshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a man needed hospital treatment following a robbery on a footbridge.
At around 11.15pm on Saturday, September 5, the victim was walking towards Queens Park. When he was on the footbridge between Midland Road and Ford End Road, he was approached by three offenders.
One of the offenders punched the victim, causing him to fall. The group then proceeded to assault the victim as he lay on the ground.
The offenders then stole the victim’s phone, a quantity of cash and cigarettes, before running towards the Queens Park area.
The first offender is described as in his 20s, white, approximately 5’4”, with light brown hair and wearing a long sleeved orange top and dark trousers.
The second offender is described as also in his 20s, white, approximately 5’4”, with black hair and wearing a black puffa coat and black trousers.
The third offender is described as white, approximately 5’8” and wearing a black coat and black trousers.
The victim sustained serious injuries which required hospital treatment.
Investigation Officer Julia Hinson, from Bedfordshire Police’s Crime Investigation Team, said: “This was a violent and unprovoked attack on an unsuspecting victim.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area, or if they saw the men described around the time of the incident.”
