FA TROPHY 3RD QUALIFYING ROUND

Comfortable but anxious moments saw the Waders progress into the next round, with the draw for that on the November 2.

Waders from the off took the game to Heybridge with near total territory domination.

Joe Neal, Connor Furlong, Trey Charles and Jonny Giles all creating chances but accuracy was amiss.

Captain in the absence of Shane Bush, Jamie Peters was the man stealing into positions just outside the box to test the visiting keeper.

A well marshalled defence kept the Swift’s forwards quiet but still some anxious moments when the scores are level.

At the break 0-0 and still all to play for.

Out for the second period much the same from Biggleswade but just that final ball. 10 in and Trey Charles conjured up, for Hallowe’en of course, just the magic required to break the Heybridge defence.

A dazzling run down the right beating two and jinking into the box with pace, his final pass into the danger area found new boy Connor Furlong only to willing to bury the ball.

Charles hit the bar later and certainly deserved his man of the match award.

Heybridge inspiration came when they went down to 10 men after the referee decided Jack Adlington-Pile had been reckless in the tackle and issued the red card.

This only helped to galvanise Heybridge with the team pushing forward to look for the equaliser.

Fortunately, the Wader’s backline plus Forster competed well to limit the Swifts to only six shots, three on target throughout the match.

A win but with all cup ties nerves are stretched.

Man of the match Trey Charles chosen and presented by Premier Plus ltd
