The Higgins Bedford will be reopening on Thursday, December 3, with Bedford Borough being placed into Tier Two-High Alert following the end of national restrictions.

Measures are in place for the safety of visitors, volunteers and staff, and to help ensure an enjoyable experience for all.

To help manage the number of people in the museum, capacity has been reduced and visitors will need to book a FREE online timed entry ticket in advance, or by calling 01234 718044 (line open 11am-3pm Monday-Friday).

Visitors must only visit The Higgins Bedford with people they live with or from their support bubble, and no socialising between households can take place indoors.

Everyone visiting the museum must wear a face covering, except for children under 11 or for the legitimate reasons set out in Government guidance.

There is a one-way system in operation with separate entrance and exit routes. Hand washing and sanitising facilities are available throughout the building.

Customer toilet facilities are open with clear queuing systems in place, and cleaning has been increased.

Interactive displays have been removed as well as shared information folders about the displays, but visitors will be able to access these on mobile devices by scanning QR codes.

Staff and volunteers are on hand to help visitors have a safe and enjoyable time, while measures such as screens are in place to help ensure everyone’s safety.

In addition, The Higgins Bedford is collecting contact details for visitors to support NHS Test and Trace in the prevention of further local COVID-19 outbreaks.
