Following a greetings card design project with David Wilson Homes, the children from The Marston Day Nursery in Marston Moretaine are spreading joy to residents at the homebuilder’s development.
As part of a ‘Welcome Home’ campaign, the housebuilder reached out to the nursery nearby to its development Marston Fields on Torry Orchard, for the help of the pre-school children in designing greeting cards to be handed out to new homebuyers.
The children came together to create two collaborative designs. Significantly in both designs, Captain Thomas Moore’s blue post box can be seen. This is a feature of interest to the children when they are walking around the village of Marston Moretaine.
The children also went above and beyond the ‘Welcome Home’ campaign by also creating a piece of transient art representing the local area. This piece of art was inspired by the Reggio Emilia School of Thought, which allows children to express themselves with access to a range of resources and elements from the world around them.
Clare Eggelton, Nursery Manager, said: “As new members of the community ourselves, we were thrilled to partake in this opportunity. The children at our Nursery enjoy regular walks around the village as part of their learning and development, and this creative brief allowed them to explore what they’d seen, and express themselves through art. We look forward to welcoming new families from the development to our Nursery in future.”
The scheme aims to provide a warm welcome to those making a fresh start with David Wilson Homes, whilst also highlighting key information about the local area.
The theme of the county-wide project for schools and nurseries is all things home related and the children are encouraged to be as creative as possible, adding in pictures and details about the suburb they live in.
Jason Hearn, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said: “It’s important to us to make new residents feel welcome as they join our new communities, and we’re thankful to the children at The Marston Day Nursery for helping us to do just that.
“Purchasers moving into their new homes is a great opportunity for greetings cards to be distributed and receiving a personal message from a local nursery will really put a smile on their faces.”
“Marston Moretaine residents benefit from rural and country living alongside having access to excellent commuter links such as being less than five miles to junction 13, M1 and nine miles from Bedford.
