Neville Funerals, one of the region’s longest established family run businesses, has announced a special Christmas Charity Campaign, sharing plans to support organisations and initiatives that provide vital help to the homeless across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
Managers at each of its eight branches have chosen a local charity that works directly with the homeless in their area, to offer direct financial aid and to collect much needed essential items for the crucial winter months.
The business is donating £500.00 each to the following initiatives: Amicus Trust, which provides support and accommodation for homeless individuals in Bedfordshire; King’s Arms Project, a housing project that has supported the homeless in Bedford since 1989; DENS, a charity that houses and empowers homeless people; The North Herts Sanctuary, which provides temporary accommodation; The Need Project, which fights rural poverty in central Bedfordshire; Winter Night Shelter MK, which aims to relieve poverty, distress and homelessness and Sign Posts, which supports homeless people in Luton and Dunstable.
£1,500 is also being donated to NOAH Enterprise, a charity which seeks to help out the most disadvantaged in the local community on behalf of Neville Funerals Luton and Stopsley branches, and also on behalf of Neville Funerals’ sister companies, Neville Trust, Neville Special Projects and Neville Joinery.
Kellie Ormond, Marketing and Fundraising Manager at Amicus Trust said: “Thank you so much for the donation of £500.00 to Amicus Trust, it is amazingly kind of your organisation to support the charity in this way, and we wanted to say how much it is appreciated.
“Your donation is especially appreciated this year as the pandemic has further impacted on the mental health of many of our service users, your donation will go towards making Christmas a little brighter and provide a Christmas meal for the residents and essential items they may need.”
Vicky Trumper, Director at Neville Funerals added: “At this time of year we would normally be delivering gifts to celebrate the festive season to the companies, subcontractors, suppliers and community groups that we work closely with.
“However, in light of all that has happened in 2020 we have made a decision, as a group of companies, to support local initiatives for Christmas with a focus on those charities that have struggled to raise funds, because of the pandemic, and which provide essential services to the homeless.
“This year, above all others, it felt more important and appropriate for us to offer practical and immediate assistance to our communities and those in greatest need.”
Neville Funerals will also be collecting much needed supplies for these charities and has set up a Donation Box at each branch for local people to be able to contribute if they can.
They are looking for donations of the following items: hats, gloves, scarves, new pants and socks, tins of meat or fish or vegetables and new sealed toiletries and will accept items up until December 14.
