Following in her older brother’s footsteps, seven-year-old Alyssa Cox of Biggleswade District Scouts, has just joined a very special group of youngsters in the UK who have completed all the badges possible for a young Beaver Scout to earn!

After becoming one of the youngest Beaver’s in the whole country to receive her Chief Scout Bronze Award, young Alyssa has worked tirelessly in gaining each of her badges.

Not a mean feat either, there are six Challenge Awards, 23 Activity Badges and a Chief Scout Bronze Award adorning her Beaver Sweatshirt as well as a host of Staged badges, the latter of which Alyssa has earned all of to a minimum of Stage 1!

And her inspirations in Scouting she lists as Bear Grylls, her mum, her older brother, Benji (9) and her late Great Grandad who was a King’s Scout.

Alyssa says: “I love doing Beavers because it’s fun! We get lots of activities to do and learn lots of new skills like cooking, riding a bike, making campfires, and going canoeing and go karting!”

One of her favourite badges to complete has been cooking and completing the My Outdoors and My Adventure Badges where she went camping on an activity weekend at the Leslie Sell Activity Centre in Bedford last year.

Alyssa has also gone above and beyond during the Pandemic and has helped keep virtual Scouting alive by helping the Biggleswade District team by guest presenting and voicing over activity and challenge videos for virtual weekend events which have been viewed all over the world.

Her next challenge awaits as she swims up to Cub Scouts in the New Year!
