In 2021, Bedford Borough Council will be carrying out works to refurbish St. Peter’s Street Car Park as part of a larger investment in the Council’s car parks.
Works will focus on resurfacing the car park to remove potholes and replacing the current drainage system.
While the majority of these works will take place in February and March, the car park will be temporarily closed from 5pm on January 7 to 5pm on January 8, in order for investigative survey works to take place.
Councillor Charles Royden, Portfolio Holder for Environment, said: “Across the town centre we are investing in our council owned car parks to ensure that they are fit for purpose and of a high quality.
“The works to St. Peter’s Street Car Park are just part of a larger package of investment that we’re bringing to our parking facilities across the town centre.
“Ahead of works taking place, signage will be displayed to make people aware that the car park will be closed for 24 hours from 5pm on January 7.”
For those wanting to park in Bedford Town Centre while the St. Peter’s Street Car Park is closed, all other council owned car parks will be available for parking.
Two hours free parking is also available every weekday at Queen Street Multi Storey Car Park, alongside free parking after 6pm in all Council owned car parks, except River Street Car Park.
