A fifth person has been arrested as Bedfordshire Police continue to investigate the death of a woman in Luton.
Officers were called at around 2am on Tuesday December 29, over concerns for a woman with a head injury in Chapel Street.
Emergency services attended the scene and the woman in her 50s was taken to hospital, but sadly she died on Wednesday December 30.
On Thursday December 31, two men in their 50s, a man in his 30s and a woman in her 50s were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and have since been released under investigation.
A post-mortem examination was carried out on Saturday January 2, 2021 and determined the woman’s cause of death as a head injury. The death is being treated as a suspicious.
Detective Inspector Justine Jenkins, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: “We have arrested a fifth person following our investigation into the death of a woman in Luton.
“We are exploring all possible options as to how the injury occurred.
