On March 18, 2021, Mayor of Bedford Dave Hodgson was informed by the local NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) that they are suspending bookings for the first dose of Covid vaccinations from March 29 until the end of April.

This follows the Government’s Task Force on vaccinations announcement that there will be a significant reduction in supply available from manufacturers.

The CCG will focus on delivering second doses of both Pfizer and AstraZeneca to local residents throughout April.

This should not affect the vaccinations at Bedford Heights as that is being run as a National Vaccination Centre.

It should also not impact on bookings through the national system.

The week’s Snapshot shows another reduction in the number of positive Coronavirus cases across Bedford Borough with 82 new cases in the week to March 14. This means the Borough has a rate of 47.3 cases per 100,000 for that week. There have also been another drop in the number of deaths, with nine in the week to March 5.
