Attempted arson on house in Dewsbury Road, Luton

Detectives investigating an attempted arson in Dewsbury Road, Luton, are appealing for information from the public.

Emergency services were called to a property at around 2.15am Tuesday morning (11 May) to a report of a smashed window.

The offender poured accelerant into the property along with a lighted piece of paper, then made off from the scene in the direction of Catherall Road.

The offender was wearing dark clothing.

Detective Sergeant Richard Marshall, from Bedfordshire Police’s Crime Investigation Team, said: “This incident could have had tragic consequences, and has understandably left the victim really shaken up.

“We are following up lines of enquiry and I am now keen to hear from anyone who was in the area around the time who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously.”
