Twelve months in jail for Bedford man who molested 11-year-old girl

A Bedford man who molested an 11-year-old girl in a cupboard at party was jailed for 12 months on Wednesday, June 23, 2021.

Lakhvir Bring, 39, touched the girl all over her clothing January 2018, only stopping when her brother opened the door, Luton Crown Court heard.

The girl, who is now a teenager, said in a Victim Impact Statement, that when people touch her now it brings tears to her eyes.

She said she can’t even hug her own family and did not trust men.

Two months before, and one month after the assault, Bring had touched the bottoms of woman out shopping.

Bring of College Road, Bedford was convicted of sexual assault of a child under 13. He was aided in court by a Punjabi interpreter.

Defending John Lloyd-Richards said Bring, who has no family in the UK, now accepts his guilt.

Judge Rebecca Herbert told him: “The effects of what you did to that young girl continue to be with her.

“It was not your first sexual assault of a female and it wasn’t your last. ‘ The judge said she agreed with the pre-sentence report which said he was a “danger to females.”

In addition to jailing him, she said he must register as a sex offender for 10 years and abide by the terms of a sexual harm prevention order.
