A man who exposed himself to two teenage sisters they walked past his car in Clifton in Bedfordshire, sped from the scene.
But Stuart Levi, 38, hadn’t reckoned on the presence of mind of the pair when they snapped a photo of the vehicle complete with the registration number.
It meant police were able to trace the car which belonged to Levi, as a result he appeared at Luton Crown Court where he pleaded guilt into a single offence of exposure.
Prosecutor Laura Blackband told the court how the incident occurred at around 3.30pm on January 8, 2020 in Shefford Road, Clifton.
The sisters aged 16 and 18 were walking along the street and as they made their way past the defendant’s black Mercedes car, could see him sitting in the driver’s seat and exposing himself.
Miss Blackband said the girls “were distressed” but were able to take a photo of the car as it made off and it was this that was to lead to the defendant’s arrest.
Derek Johashen defending Levi now felt “embarrassed, humiliated and distressed” and was now seeking counselling.
“This is a man who will not behave in this way again. This man has been punished ever since the offence in January 2020. It’s played on his mind ever since. He has lived with this for 18 months.”
Judge Rebecca Herbert sentenced Levi to a 12 months community order and told him he must carry out 200 hours of unpaid work. In addition he was told he will have to pay £1500 towards the cost of the prosecution.
The judge said: “Clearly there have been mental health issues with you.
“She said people who knew the defendant spoke well of him and held him in high regard.”
