A Metropolitan Police officer will appear in court on Monday October 4, 2021, charged with a rape alleged to have been carried out in St Albans last year.
David Carrick, from Stevenage, was arrested on Saturday, October 2, 2021. He is due to appear virtually at Hatfield Remand Court on Monday, October 4.
PC David Carrick, 46, who is based within the Met’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, was charged by Hertfordshire Constabulary on Sunday, October 3, with rape.
The offence is alleged to have happened on September 4, 2020, in St Albans when he was off-duty.
Herts police say the victim is being supported by specially-trained officers.
He was arrested on Saturday, October 2, 2021, by Hertfordshire Constabulary and suspended the same day by the Metropolitan Police. The force said it will await the outcome of criminal proceedings.
A referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
Met Commissioner Cressida Dick said: “I am deeply concerned to hear the news today that an officer from the Met’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command has been arrested and now charged with this serious offence. I fully recognise the public will be very concerned too.”
