Tragic news has been announced in national news on Saturday, November 13, 2021, of the death of former Bedford College student Gurpareet Bains, author of the Indian Superfood cook book.

Gurpareet left Stratton Upper School in Biggleswade to fast-track his way through A Levels in Politics and Sociology at the College in Cauldwell Street, Bedford and said that the freedom and personal responsibility allowed there proved to be a good forerunner for life’s adventures.

He then set sail for Australia where he studied at hospitality and ended up running his own restaurant Planet Bollywood in Turkey and acting as an international culinary consultant for the Movenpick chain of hotels.

He came back in the UK after ten years away, and was living in Kempston when asked to be a guest speaker at a Bedford College Achievements Evening in 2006. Since then he has gone to achieve celebrity status.
