A 21-year-old man was jailed for six years and six months on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, after a road rage attack on a soldier in Dunstable.
Liam James had tailgated the other driver, who had a young child in his car, on Tring Road on March 15, 2021.
When the 20-year-old man got out they exchanged words.
As the victim turned away he was struck by James’ car. James then drove off.
He suffered serious head injuries, was unable to drive and cannot return to full duties until March next year.
James, of Woodland Avenue, Houghton Regis, appeared for sentence at Luton Crown Court having pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He also admitted being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs – cannabis, using a motor vehicle with no insurance and failing to stop.
Judge Gary Lucie told him: “Running someone over in a car carries the risk of causing death or permanent injury.”
He jailed him for a total of six and a half years and banned him from driving for five years and eight months.
James must take an extended retest before he can drive again.
