Christmas is a terrible time to be stuck in hospital, so to bring some Christmas cheer Santa (or rather several Santas) delivered chocolates to both Bedford and L&D Hospitals yesterday.

Santa was assisted by the Beda Widows Sons, the motorbiking branch of Bedfordshire Freemasons, who provided the chocolates.

The arrival of the motorbiking Santas is always popular, and patients and staff alike took the opportunity to get a photograph.

Isabella Gilmore of Luton & Dunstable Hospital said: “Thank you for your kind donation to benefit Children’s ward outpatients, we are extremely grateful for your support and generosity.”

Steve Joyce, Bedfordshire Freemasons Charity Steward, added: “Sometimes the little things can make a big difference.

Every child that attends A&E Departments at Bedford or L&D Hospitals is presented with a teddy donated by us, and we know this can be a great comfort.

At Christmas, everyone likes a chocolate or two, and we like to make sure nobody misses out.”
