An 18-year-old youth appeared before a Crown Court judge on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, accused of murdering another teenager in Milton Keynes.
Justice Will-Mamah of Coniston Way, Bletchley, is charged with fatally stabbing Ahmednur Nuur, who was 16, and possession of a knife.
Ahmednur, from Conniburrow, Milton Keynes, died after being attacked near to Milton Keynes College just after 1.30pm on Friday, February 11, 2022.
On Tuesday, February 15, Justice Will-Mamah made a brief appearance at St Albans Crown Court. He was wearing a grey tracksuit, a blue covid mask and had a white plaster on his forehead.
His lawyer Farrukh Usmani made no application for bail, but said an application would be made “in due course.”
Judge Richard Foster remanded him in custody until for a plea hearing on April 12, at Luton Crown Court. A trial date was set for August 8, also at Luton Crown Court.
Prosecutor Peter Shaw told the judge: “There may be another defendant on this or other charges.”
PERVERTING COURSE OF JUSTICE
On Monday, February 14, 2022, the police said a 17-year-old boy from Milton Keynes had been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice.
Ahmednur’s family is being supported by specially trained officers. In a tribute the family said: “Nur in Arabic means light and Ahmednur was the embodiment of the warmest, brightest shades of his name. If he wasn’t making people smile, it’s because he was making them laugh.”
Health care students from Milton Keynes College saw the teenager collapse on a path near their classroom. They gave Ahmednur immediate aid until paramedics arrived. He was taken to Milton Keynes hospital, where he later died.
At the weekend Thames Valley police said: “The victim was stabbed near the junction of Palace Square and Rainbow Drive in Leadenhall. After being stabbed, he then moved towards the Chaffron Way campus of Milton Keynes College and collapsed on the redway outside.
“Healthcare students and a member of staff from the college who were in a class overlooking the redway made their way outside and provided immediate first aid, until emergency services arrived.
“These students are now receiving specialist support from the college and we would like to publicly commend the courage and selflessness that they have demonstrated in these tragic circumstances.”
