HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

On February 6, 2022, Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.

The four-day UK bank holiday weekend from Thursday June 2 to Sunday June 5, marks the culmination of events to mark this unprecedented anniversary, with a series of spectacular events taking place in central London and more information on these events can be found at: https://www.royal.uk/guide-platinum-jubilee-weekend

In Bedfordshire, and in line with the rest of the country, there is a number of celebratory activities going on. As The Queen’s personal representative in the County, Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire Helen Nellis is delighted to have a full weekend of jubilee celebrations across the county and is looking forward to seeing as many people as possible.

Jubilee Party, Sri Guru Ravidass Community Centre, Bedford
Service of Thanksgiving, St Andrew’s Church, Ampthill

The Vice Lord-Lieutenant and the team of Deputy Lieutenants will also be out in the community over the Bank Holiday celebrating the Jubilee at various Beacon Lighting ceremonies, Services of Thanksgiving and Jubilee Parties.

The Lord-Lieutenant said: “It is my honour to be Lord-Lieutenant, Her Majesty the Queen’s representative in the county of Bedfordshire, during this very special Platinum Jubilee year.

“There are so many events across Bedfordshire, and indeed nationally, including services of thanksgiving, lighting of beacons, parades and street parties which will bring people together to celebrate and show our gratitude to HM The Queen for her loyal unswerving service to the country and commonwealth.

“I am very much looking forward to visiting many towns and parishes in the County to join in with all the vibrant community activity that has been planned and to meet as many people as possible.”
