A Luton drug dealer who imported kilos of cocaine into the country inside bricks was jailed for 17 years on Thursday, June 16, 2022.
Waseem Choudry, 34, of Oakley Gardens, Luton, appeared for sentence at Luton Crown Court having been convicted of six charges of supplying Class A drugs.
Choudhury was involved a conspiracy that was discovered in 2020 after detectives in France and the Netherlands broke the Encrochat network – a secret messaging service used by criminals to arrange smuggling operations.
Jailing him at Luton Crown Court, Judge Lynn Tayton QC told him: “You ran your own operation.
You directed others and negotiated with suppliers.
“You used sophisticated technology. You organised the buying and selling of cocaine on a commercial scale. You were involved in deals of many kilos of cocaine.”
