Make ‘Volunteering’ your New Year resolution for 2023 and it could be best one you’ve ever made. That’s because Volunteering is one of the most rewarding things we can do, for volunteers as well as recipients of services.
Particularly rewarding are the volunteer roles Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service (BFRS) are recruiting for.
For example, Fuel and Home Heating Advocates visit vulnerable people at home, often those without internet access, who are struggling to pay their fuel bills and support them to get any help with benefits or grants that they may be entitled to.
The volunteer does the work by making calls and visiting relevant websites on the person’s behalf.
Or what about supporting BFRS’s Home Fire Safety Visits team?
They provide home safety assessments and free installation of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms or specialist alarms for those with impaired hearing.
Further volunteering opportunities with BFRS include Community Safety Advocates, Diversity and Inclusion Support and Community Events Assistant; to name just a few.
All BFRS volunteers receives a tailored induction, relevant training, ongoing support and can claim travel expenses.
