Dunstable’s Old Palace Lodge is to play host to asylum seekers

0

A 4-star hotel and restaurant in Dunstable has shut to members of the public after taking a government contract to house asylum seekers.

Potential customers of the Old Palace Lodge in Church Street are unable to book any dates this year on its website.

It reads: “Property is sold out during those dates, please try different dates.” A recorded message says the hotel is temporarily closed.

The Old Palace Lodge has 68 en-suite bedrooms.

The news is expected to lead to the cancellation of weddings at the venue.

The Old Palace Lodge has been asked to comment but we’ve had no response so far.

It is understood that several other hotels in Dunstable and Luton are also to house asylum seekers.
