A man who says he is working for the United States Department of Defence was caught selling cannabis from his Vape shop in Luton.

Loran Sulaiman, 24, a mechanical engineering graduate from Hertfordshire University, was arrested in July 2020 after the police went to the shop in Chapel Street.

On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, Sulaiman, of Donald Drive, Romford, appeared at Luton Crown Court where he pleaded  guilty to possessing cannabis with intent to supply, possessing THC liquid with intent to supply and possessing synthetic cannabis with intent to supply.

His barrister Manveer Cheema said he had supplied the Class B drugs to a limited number of people while selling Vapes legitimately.

He told Judge Rebecca Herbert: “The pandemic had hit and he had just finished University and started to use cannabis.“

Mr Cheema said Sulaiman has now secured a job working for the United States defence department. He said: “He is a mechanical engineer and is based in Germany dealing with military units. He is assisting with the defence of Ukraine.”

He said he was being sent to Macedonia on a mission for two months from April 17.

Judge Herbert said she needed to see official documentation to show he was employed by the US military. “I want to see evidence.  I suspect he would not be allowed into United States with these convictions,” she said.

She adjourned sentence until April 6.
