Bedford paedophile Martin Bayes was given a 27-year sentence on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 for child sex offences.
The 52-year-old was sent to prison for 22 years and was given an extended five year sentence by the judge, who said he was a dangerous offender.
It means he can be released after serving two thirds of the jail sentence, but could be recalled to prison at any time within the 27 year period.

His wife Dianne also appeared at Luton Crown Court on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, where she was jailed for five years for child cruelty offences.
Prosecutor Siobhan Malloy said that Martin Bayes of Luke Place, Bedford been convicted of 15 offences of rape, indecent assault and sexual assault charges committed against six victims over a 20-year-period.
He was also convicted of attempting to pervert the course of justice by threatening a young victim with prison if she told anyone what happened.
In a victim personal statement one woman said the offences against her caused her to self-harm and live on anti-depressants. She lacked trust in people and “hated everyone.”
Another said: “No-one deserves to endure what I went through.”
Dianne Bayes, now 53, of the same address had verbally abused and physically assaulted victims. She encouraged a 12-year-old victim to have sex with a 15-year-old boy. The girl had been exposed to other sexualised behaviour.
Alesdair King for Martin Bayes said he continued to deny the offences. He said all of the convictions, expect one, were for behaviour that happened some time ago.
For Dianne Bayes, Fiona McCaddy said she had suffered physical and emotional abuse in her back. She accepted the jury’s verdict and was beginning to show insight.
Judge Lynn Tayton KC told them: “The full effects of the offences you have committed have been far reaching and significant.
“None of the victims should feel guilty for not speaking out earlier.
“It is no surprise and not unusual for a young person who is sexually assaulted not to make a complaint at the time. Children cannot be blamed for keeping quiet.
“Nobody is to blame for these offences apart from you two defendants.”
The judge made indefinite restraining order banning the couple from contacting the victims.
