A birthday party raised £900 towards the Addison Centre heating fund.
The huge community hall, which is owned by the people of Kempston, is used for weddings, conferences, dances and parties all year round.
But a new boiler system was needed which is going to cost more than £15,000. To help fund the project Vice Chair of the Trustees Anita Martin stages regular tea dances and other events.
When Alison Appleby and Beryl Tench celebrated their 70th and 90th birthdays at the Addison Centre with an afternoon tea party they said did not want gifts but asked people to donate to the Addison Heating fund. They raised £900.
Said Anita: “This was such a generous offer. We are grateful to them and others who hold regular events to support us. The Addison Centre is for everyone in Kempston to enjoy so please come along and take a look at our space, our private car park for 90 vehicles and more.”
