Tibbs Dementia Foundation returned to All Saints Church in Queens Park for its annual Christmas Extravaganza on Saturday, and it was a celebration worthy of its name!

The Tibbs community was boosted by friends from across the county as the young and not so young came together to sing Christmas music and enjoy good company.

The fabulous, First Tuesday Singers set the tone with a sparkling rendition of In Dulci Jubilo.

And the Da Capo String Ensemble played a stirring rendition of Vivaldi’s Winter, from the Four Seasons.

As Paul Fricker and Ron Morris came up to sing the early verses of In the Bleak Mid-Winter, there was hardly a dry eye to be seen.

A few old favourites followed, Away in a Manger and the First Noel but you could have heard a pin drop when a young soloist from Promethidion sang Silent Night in Ukranian.

Another treat was in store when Charlie Blades and Hetty

Franklin, two talented musicians from Bedford Modern School, performed Mary Did You Know and Christmas Song.

Tibbs is privileged to have had a special partnership with Bedford Modern for many years and senior students regularly support many of its activities.

As the afternoon drew to a close, Jeni Melia, Tibbs co-founder and Extravaganza musical director, led a collection of carols, complete with all the actions from Father Christmas He Got Stuck! to Little Bill’s Good King Wenceslas.  Which culminated in a rather spectacular rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah.

If you have a friend of family member that is affected by memory loss or dementia and want to find out more about the activities and support services that Tibbs provides, please email contact@tibbsdementia.co.uk or call 01234 210993.
