A Luton drug dealer was jailed for four years on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, after being caught with cocaine and heroin worth hundreds of pounds in his home.
Zahar Haseeb, 21, was out of prison on licence from a previous conviction for drug dealing when the police called at 6am.
Prosecutor Nigel Ogborne told Luton Crown Court: “The door was opened by Mr Haseeb.
He was arrested and had his mobile phone taken.
“He was asked about drugs and said there was some crack in his bedroom.”
Police found a lump of crack cocaine and a wrap with a total street value of £870. There were also five wraps of heroin with a street value of £50, along with £55 cash.
Mr Ogborne said when the mobile was examined the police found evidence of Haseeb giving instructions to someone lower down the drugs supply chain.
Scales, clingfilm and a tick list of users were also seized. Haseeb, of Pembroke Avenue, Luton, appeared for sentence having pleaded guilty to two charges of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply.
Defending, Kevin Molloy said Haseeb came from a good family and had co-operated with the police when they arrived at his home. He said he had been dealing drugs because of his own use.
“He was only making enough money to feed his addiction,” he said.
Since being remanded in custody, he said Haseeb’s addiction had “rectified itself”.
He said psychiatric problems suffered by Haseeb had also been alleviated and he was “on the road to recovery.”
Jailing him, Recorder Patrick Fields said: “You had a significant role in the drug dealing chain.”
