A teenager who raped three other young people over an eight month period when he was just 15-years-old has been was given an 10 year jail sentence on Thursday, November 4, 2021

Sentencing the boy who is now 17, Judge Richard Foster told him: “You are a very troubled young man, you are a very dangerous young man.”

In 2019 the teenager had raped a another teenage boy at knife point in a park in Hitchin; he attacked a 13-year-old girl in his bedroom after drugging her and finally an 18-year-old girl in the grounds of a school in Luton.

Sitting at St Albans Crown Court the judge passed an extended sentence on the teenager who can’t be identified because of his age.

The judge told the boy who appeared by a video link from Feltham Young Offenders Institute where he has been held on remand, that the custodial part of his sentence meant he would have to serve a minimum of two thirds of the 10 year term before the parole board would decide if he was safe to be released.

If they deemed he wasn’t safe then he will remain locked up for the full 10 years.

But the judge said whenever he is released he would then be on an extended licence period of five years.

The effect of the judge’s sentence means he can be recalled back to prison any time after his release up until 2036.

In August of this year the boy was found guilty of six offences of rape on the three victims and an offence of assaulting the 13-year-old girl occasioning her actual bodily harm.

At his trial the jury heard all the victims had met up with the boy expecting some sort of sexual contact with him, but he had then gone “too far.”

Prosecutor David Matthew said: “He committed a string of sexual offences” during 2019 when he was 15.”

The first victim was a 15-year-old boy who met up with the defendant on February 28 that year in King George V playing fields in Hitchin.

The court heard pair had previously been in contact with each other via their phones and in the park that day there was sexual activity between them by some swings.

It was then, said Mr Matthew, that the defendant suddenly produced a Stanley knife or craft knife before committing acts of oral and anal rape on the boy.

In August of that year a 13-year-old girl who that summer had been seeing him, visited the accused at his Hitchin home.

Mr Matthew said the boy took the girl upstairs to his bedroom where he gave her some tablets. He said they watched some cartoons, but she then fell asleep and came to to find the defendant on top of her between her legs and raping her.

Her hands had been tied together by a belt, said the prosecutor and the boy then hit her and put a pillow over her face to keep her quiet.

“He had previously shown her a knife under his bed and she was worried about this,” he told the jury.

The court then heard how on Sunday, October 6, 2019, contacted an 18-year-old girl he knew who lived in Luton.

He had travelled to Luton and sent her a message asking to meet. As a result the girl left her home and met up with the boy and they went into the playing fields of a school where they began kissing.

“She asked him to stop because he was getting too rough” said Mr Matthews who said the 15-year-old’s mood suddenly changed as he forced his penis into her mouth.

He said the boy then told her to undress and “get on her back” and raped her.

During her ordeal he threatened her with a wine bottle and the jury was told it ended when he took a call on his phone from his mother.

Mr Matthews said the following day at her school, teachers noticed she was “withdrawn” and as a result of what she said the police were contacted and the boy was arrested.

Passing sentence on the teenager Judge Foster told him he would be made the subject of three restraining orders not to contact the three complainants “by any means.”

His name will also go on the sex offenders register for the rest of his life.
