Nominations for the Bedford Borough Sports and Physical Activity Awards 2021 are now open.

These Awards recognise and celebrate the contribution of individuals, clubs and coaches to sports and physical activity locally.

Physical movement, the camaraderie of team sports and the community has been key to so many people in keeping themselves fit, healthy and mentally well during the last 18 months.

If you have been inspired to take up a new sport, or rediscover an old hobby, or want to say thank you to the clubs, coaches, schools, or volunteers who kept you going please nominate them for an Award.


The categories are:

  • Adult Personality of the Year
  • Junior Personality of the Year
  • Adult Disability Sports Personality of the Year
  • Junior Disability Sports Personality of the Year
  • Club of the Year
  • Community Club/Group of the Year
  • Primary School of the Year
  • Secondary School of the Year
  • Team of the Year
  • Coach of the Year
  • Unsung Hero
  • Young Volunteer of the Year
  • Service to Sport

Cllr Doug McMurdo, Portfolio Holder for Leisure said: “It is always so inspiring to hear the amazing stories of sporting prowess, community spirit and the incredible work of individuals across our local sporting landscape.

“The Sports and Physical Activity Awards are a great opportunity to give your club, coach, school, team, volunteer or local sporting inspiration some recognition and thank them for all that they do.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation and the continuing need to be cautious, these Awards will be held virtually.
