The Bedford College Group has unveiled its Annual Review showing how the organisation increased its impact and influence on the region during 2021.

As others struggled during lockdowns and restrictions, the Group rose to the challenge and in terms of financial health remains “the envy of the sector” says long-standing CEO Ian Pryce CBE who has steered the organisation for nearly a quarter of a century.
Chair of the Corporation Allan Schofield said he and fellow Governors now has a plan taking the Group forward to 2030.

The Group has colleges in Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire, nearly 15,000 students, links with more than 1,200 employers and 886 staff members.
Improvements include:

  • a long overdue refurbishment of the 1950s Tower Block overlooking the riverside campus off Cauldwell Street in Bedford to create a beacon of science and technology training
  • a £3.9 Million refit of The Bedford Sixth Form on Bromham Road, now a hugely popular hub for A Level excellence
  •  plans for a much needed educational upgrade via a 6th Form Centre in Corby

One of the Grpup’s more recent upgrades included the re-launch of the Wellingborough Campus in Northamptonshire to welcome 1,000 staff and students into the town. The Group was voted the TES Best FE College in the UK in 2020 – proving it to be a beacon of education excellence for not just the region but the UK.
