Kempston Community Association is looking to appoint a Centre Manager, with responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Addison Centre. This is a pivotal role, ensuring a vibrant and well managed facility for the benefit of local residents and organisations.
The Centre is an independent and self-funded community facility owned by the people of Kempston and administered on their behalf by the Trustees of the Kempston Community Association, which is a registered charity.
The Addison Centre is currently used by a number of local community groups on a weekly or monthly basis including The Grace Church.
There is both the capacity and the need to increase the number of regular bookings and for one-off events such as conferences, birthday parties, wedding receptions, dances, discos etc.
Working under the guidance of the Trustees the Centre Manager will be running the business, meeting members of the public, managing a team of four other part-time employees and keeping a keen eye on finances.
The successful applicant will be given considerable autonomy with regards to the day-to-day running and will need to be well-organised, self-motivated and flexible in their working methods.
The Centre Manager will determine exactly which times they work, dependent on the needs of the business and some working from home may be possible.
The applicant will need to be computer literate to manage online bookings and be confident with social media.
As the public face of the Centre, good inter-personal skills are also extremely important.
