From March 8, essential shops and services can welcome back 1,000s of students, school and college staff members into Bedford town centre.

The Bedford College Group, which includes the riverside campus and The Bedford Sixth Form, will be back on that date with young people looking to enjoy their freedom.
Together with other local schools, and parents who will be “back on the school run”, this will mean vital visitors into the otherwise empty centre.

Matthew at Harrison & Simmonds has been promoting the 90-year-old High Street family-owned emporium worldwide via the internet, and selling his original Sherlock Holmes stories.

Said BedfordBID: “We are looking forward to welcoming back staff and students who are a very important customer base Monday to Friday, now more than ever.”

Businesses in Bedford have been selling online throughout the long lockdown.

Kevin Kavanagh has been keeping peoples spirits up with deliveries of top quality wines from Blue Glass wine bar in St Peters Street.

Links to all the new “ways to buy” can be found via lovebedford.co.uk which showcases shops and services who have adjusted to click and collect, delivery and takeaway options for customers.

Several hair and beauty salons have launched their own retail websites, restaurants have adapted their menus and shops have gone online.
