Kingsmoor Preschool proposes change of age range

A preliminary consultation has been launched to gauge demand for a proposed lowering of the age range at Kingsmoor Preschool.

The change, put forward by a significant number of parents, would see the pre-school lower its age range from three-years-old to two-years-old, in line with other preschools, for the start of the September term.

This will make the school’s age range 2-9 years, rather than the current 3-9 years, but will not change school’s determined admissions arrangements, nor guarantee a place at Kingsmoor Lower School.

Headteacher Mrs Jenkins said: “Lowering the age range has been raised by a significant number of parents who currently register their children with other carers/nurseries at the age of two and then have to reregister them with school for the term after they turn three.

“The proposed changes would mean that children are able to start education earlier and reduce the disruption of moving to another setting after only a year.”
