A man has been jailed for more than four years after smashing a glass in the face of another drinker at a pub in Ampthill, in a unprovoked attacked.

James Large, of Neale Way, Wootton, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent at Luton Crown Court on Monday, March 23, 2020. He was sentenced to 52 months imprisonment.

On 18 August, Large was among a group of people drinking at the White Hart pub, when he approached the table where the victim was sat and glassed him in the face.

DC Lisa Whitson, who investigated the incident, said: “The victim required hospital treatment and sustained cuts to his face which were so deep you could see his bones. He will be scarred for life.

“I am very pleased Large has been put behind bars after such a senseless and brutal attack, which was totally unprovoked. We will not tolerate this kind of violence in Bedfordshire and will do all we can to get such perpetrators behind bars.”
