Full BA and BSc Honours Degrees in specialist subjects are now available at Bedford College and Shuttleworth College – allowing people to save money and study closer to home.

Rather than “going away” to university with all the added costs of moving and possibly losing a well-paid part-time job, undergraduates can now complete a full degree at The Bedford College Group.

HE Director Alex Mortby explains: “The Bedford College Group offer an exciting range of Higher Education Courses and now students can complete their entire degree, right here with us. Quite simply our study model encompasses great teaching and facilities where fees costs less than the standard university.

“Another benefit is that our tutors and lecturers have worked in, or still work in the industry sectors in which they teach.

“The college has fantastic links with employers and by studying here you have great links to real workplace experiences, for me this offers students the perfect study opportunity to maximise future employment opportunities.

“In addition, we have smaller class sizes than many universities where you could find yourself in a much larger class, so you can benefit from more close attention.

“Adult students can fit in with their work or family commitments. We have people who would never have dreamed of going to university when they were younger, coming to us to get a degree.

Higher Education – degree level learning
Foundation degrees and other forms of Higher Education studies are on offer at The Bedford College Group. Employer-recognised HNC/HND qualifications can be studied full or part-time across range of subjects.

“These all add towards degree qualifications which are more closely aligned with what the work-place requires compared to three years of some university courses,” added Alex,

“Our emphasis is on making sure the student is in tune with the very latest changes and requirements in the sectors in which they want to work. “Whilst employers increasing want skilled and educated candidates, they value evidence of proven understanding of the industry they represent. Such engagement is embedded in all courses for all ages.”

Funding for our HE courses can be supported via Student Loans, in the same way as a “university loan”.
