Bedford College Group are running on-line open days on June 10

Uncertain about University?
Deferring your degree?
Stay close to home this September

Uncertainty about university is causing students to think about staying closer to home this September.

With families facing reduced incomes during 2020/21, the costs of ‘going away’ to university are looking out of reach for many.

The alternative is to study with a local college – many of which offer a wide range of degree courses – or degree-level qualifications which are readily recognised by employers.

The Bedford College Group has links to 1,000s of employers in the South East Midlands: MK, Beds and Northants region, and is closely working with them to adjust to the changing ‘Covid’ times.

Ian Pryce CBE long-serving Principal and CEO who works with national college guidance groups says: “The headlines around universities and concerns about job security for ordinary families mean that some may be cautious about committing to the ‘going away’ costs of study.

“Alternatively there are many professional and vocational courses which students can sign up for full or part-time at their local college to make good use of 2020/2021.

“They still then have the option to ’go away’ to university in September 2021.”

The Bedford College Group is currently running as series of on-line ’open days‘ across its campuses in Beds and Northants on June 10, 10am-3pm.

Full and part-time courses are available in subjects ranging from the Arts, Accountancy and Agriculture to Zoological studies.
