Swan gives town a flying start

As Government guidance allowed a wider range of businesses to re-open, there was one huge surprise for people in Bedford.

Bedford Swan Hotel, which has been in business since the 1700s, revealed the fantastic refurbishment work which has been taking place during the months of closure.

NEW is the bar and library by the High Street entrance, which have been combined into a luxurious lounge setting.

The reception has moved closer to the rear car park stepped entrance. Both have been transformed. More is yet to come with the Afternoon Tea area, and later still the outstanding new spa.

The Pen&Cob restaurant which opened at Christmas has been re-opened for bookings.
And the riverside Terrace, with a separate entrance from the car park behind the Coach House, has a queuing system for a tables. So get there early for the view.

Close by in the Castle Quay area:

The Maria Grazia salon is fully booked seven days a week with Amber and team delighted to be back in business. Take look off Ram Yard to see this busy hair salon and neighbours Global Travel ready and willing to welcome clients.

A short walk into town you will find Frescoes cafe on Mill Street now open, inside and out, for coffees and light meals

A few yards further is 5th Avenue, which came of age after 21 years in business last year, and is now ready again for clients following the enforced closure.

Hairdressing only for now (beauty to follow later) but keep in touch with Kerry (photo) and team for details of future bookings. Find them in Howard Street, just off Lurke Street (multi-storey car park).

Meanwhile others bars and cafes were open for business – take a look at our Directory or follow us on FB Love Bedford for daily updates.
