The Harpur Centre is bringing festive magic to the people of Bedford once again for 2020! Following what has been a challenging year for everyone, the Centre is providing an exciting line up of activities to spread the Christmas cheer throughout this festive period.

Although Christmas may be a little different this year, it certainly isn’t cancelled at The Harpur Centre!

From non-essential store reopening’s on the December 2, 2020, the Centre will be going full swing into festive celebrations to help entertain your family this Christmas all whilst remaining COVID-19 safe!

The Harpur Centre’s Santa may not be able to meet you in his grotto this year, but he is available for live video calls from noon on Saturday, December 5!

Santa will simply send a link across to you via email, and your family can chat with Santa live from the North Pole!

Whilst Santa busily entertains your children, his festive Elves will record the full video conversation, add background music and email you the finished video so you can post on to your social media platforms and share with family and friends!

To book your slot with Santa, simply call 07973 143406 today.

Between now and Thursday, December 17, The Harpur Centre is also inviting shoppers to visit The Wishing Tree Shop via the Horne Lane entrance to donate a gift for an underprivileged child in Bedfordshire this Christmas.

To get involved, all you need to do is buy a present for a child or teenager and hand it to the wonderful volunteers from Early Childhood Partnerships who will be manning The Wishing Tree Shop, next door to Supercuts, each day during the campaign.

Your present will make a real difference and will give a child a reason to smile this festive season!

That’s not all! Santa Claus popped down to Bedford recently to see who has been naughty or nice, and whilst he was here, he visited The Harpur Centre to do some shopping!

The Centre team managed to film him during his visit and will be posting the videos to social media this December.

Keep an eye on the Centre’s social media pages to guess which shop Santa is visiting and be in with the chance to win amazing prizes throughout the month!

Plus, get creative at home by visiting the Centre’s website to download festive activity packs filled with magical crafts, recipes, and colouring sheets all completely free.

Once you have finished your masterpiece, send a photo to the Centre on social media to

win a fantastic prize and treat yourself this Christmas!

Samantha Laycock, Centre Manager at Harpur Centre, commented: “The Centre is delighted that we can once again hold fantastic entertainment at the Centre to help families feel festive, whilst also remaining safe from COVID-19.

From our wonderful Wishing Tree which has been a lifeline for underprivileged families in the area for the last few years, to live video calls with Santa, we have something for everyone this year and we hope we can put a smile on the people of Bedford’s face once again this Christmas!”

She continued: “We would also like to say a huge thank you to our partners and volunteers from Early Childhood Partnerships, and Heart Radio for helping us to launch The Wishing Tree Shop safely this year.

It’s been a challenging year for everybody, and so many families locally rely on the campaign, so this year is more important than ever.

If you can donate a gift to The Wishing Tree Shop early December, you will transform a child’s Christmas and every donation is greatly appreciated.”
