Kwik Fit, the UK’s largest automotive servicing and repair company, has launched a campaign to recognise the community heroes who are helping to keep the nation rolling during the coronavirus crisis. The company has kept its centres open to support those who need to make essential journeys and as a result, the Kwik Fit staff have seen at first hand the work that front line workers are putting in to serve their communities.

As one way to say thank you, the company is calling on people to nominate the NHS and emergency services heroes from their local area for the chance to win free tyres for their vehicle. In total, more than 60 local heroes will be selected to receive a new set of four tyres.

Kwik Fit is launching its call for nominations with a national tyre roll, in which a tyre is being rolled between all of the company’s 600-plus centres across the UK. Of course, with social distancing measures in place, this has been done through the power of technology, with individual videos from each centre being stitched together to make one nationwide roll. In total the roll lasts just over 60 minutes, but short extracts are available on each centre’s individual Facebook page.

To nominate someone who deserves a free set of tyres, people should go to their local Kwik Fit centre’s Facebook page and complete the entry requirements. Entries must be submitted by midday on Monday 4 May, and entrants can nominate themselves if they are eligible.

Roger Griggs, communications director at Kwik Fit, says: “Throughout the last few weeks we have served many NHS and blue-light workers at our centres, both in emergency vehicles and in their own cars, so our staff have heard lots of stories from the frontline. One of our centre managers had the idea to provide community nurses with protective seat and steering wheel covers and gloves and we have now provided hundreds of thousands of these across the country.

“Offering free sets of tyres is a further way that we can say thank you to these heroes for keeping the nation rolling. We encourage anyone who would like to nominate a local hero to visit their nearest Kwik Fit centre’s Facebook page and let us know the reasons for their nomination.”

Kwik Fit is providing 10% off all its products for NHS workers and is also raising money for NHS charities through its website. Any customer buying tyres or other services online at www.kwik-fit.com is able to make an additional contribution to the charities.
